Growing up on a farm in Australia’s southern highlands, Nina James developed a love for the land that blossomed into a desire to be a steward for sustainable choices. In her role as general manager, sustainability, for Investa Property Group, James is focused on confronting the global challenge of resilience and maintaining the firm’s global leadership in sustainability.
One demonstration of this commitment is her contribution to the Australian Business Roundtable for Disaster Resilience and Safer Communities, which advocates for investment in resilience and disaster preparedness. James also recently initiated a partnership with the Green Building Council of Australia to support the inclusion of resilience education in Australian universities and other educational institutions.
Viewing gender equality as a foundation for sustainable development, James is the founding chair of ULI’s Women’s Leadership Initiative in Australia.
“My engagement with ULI has offered global leadership opportunities, enabling me to build a network that spans the property sector internationally,” she notes. “ULI has provided me with increased credibility and confidence in discussing broader macroeconomics and property challenges in the Asia Pacific market, and also has helped me ‘pay it forward’ to Investa’s junior staff, propelling their career trajectories by exposing them to the benefits of ULI membership.”
