Carlos Febres-Mazzei

In his role with CBRE/New England, Carlos Febres-Mazzei shares leadership of the debt and structured finance team, which originates, structures, and executes financing for development projects and existing assets, with a focus on urban assets and institutional clients.

Beginning with his prior position at real estate capital firm HFF, Febres-Mazzei has contributed to some of the most innovative urban renewal projects in Boston, including Fan Pier, the Fort Point District, and Congress Square. Encompassing a full city block in downtown Boston and formerly world headquarters for Fidelity Investments, Congress Square is a mixed-use redevelopment of five iconic interconnected buildings. He also has received capital markets assignments from firms such as the Related/Beal Companies, Samuels & Associates, WS Development, and DivcoWest, raising debt and equity capital for office, retail, and mixed-use assets. Febres-Mazzei has taken active leadership roles in the ULI Boston district council.

“I believe we are in the midst of the biggest sea change in the real estate industry since the sector became more institutionalized in the ’80s and ’90s,” he says. “Global connectivity and technology are making real estate more dynamic and fast-paced than ever, and the younger set of professionals truly embraces both of these ideals. To be in the nexus of all of it with capital markets couldn’t be more exciting.”
