When it comes to green building, Hong Kong’s Bisagni Environmental Enterprises (BEE) sets a high bar. Founder Alessandro Bisagni, an environmental engineering consultant who has lived and worked in mainland China since 2006, aims to create environmentally sustainable projects whose revolutionary design makes each project an asset for investors. The firm is among the few in the world to be recognized as a Green Building Certification Institute LEED Proven provider.
BEE has built more than 30 million square feet (2.8 million sq m) of green certified spaces in over 25 countries, with some of the most notable examples including the Stables Private Reserve hotel in China, which has become one of the country’s finest examples of sustainable building; and Haworth Organic Showroom Beijing, the world’s first LEED-version-4 certified building developed under a human-centered WELL building standard. Bisagni dedicates a substantial amount of his time to heading green building organizations. He founded the Green Building Professional Partnership (GBPP) and the Sustainable Buildings Collaborative (SBC) China as partner organizations comprising over 1,000 Chinese professionals actively educating developers on green building techniques.
“Sustainability is a rapidly evolving market, and BEE has grown by staying ahead of current trends in green buildings,” says Bisagni. “Real-time, cloud-based building performance monitoring, health, and well-being are the future of our industry, and BEE has taken significant steps to be the first to market in China with a unique ‘technology plus sustainability consulting’ package to tackle both trends.”
